Terms of Service

The agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Blundr (“we”, “us”) that governs your access to and use of the Blundr web app, iOS app, and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Blundr.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU / UK) to use Blundr, and at least 18 years old to use Date Mode. You also must not be barred from using the Service under the laws of your country.

Your account

You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account, including keeping your password safe. Tell us at support@blundr.co right away if you suspect unauthorised access. One person, one account — don't share credentials.

Acceptable use

Blundr is a chess training and social product. You may not use the Service to:

  • Harass, threaten, dox, or intimidate other users (including in chat, dating, or post-game messages).
  • Send sexually explicit content, content involving minors, or other illegal material.
  • Cheat — use chess engines to assist your moves in rated games, create multiple accounts to manipulate ELO, or otherwise misrepresent your play.
  • Spam, advertise, scrape, scam, or attempt to phish other users inside Blundr's chat surfaces.
  • Interfere with the Service, attempt to bypass moderation systems, or reverse-engineer the API for malicious purposes.

We may remove content, mute or ban accounts that violate these rules, with or without prior notice.

Pro subscription & billing

Blundr Pro is an optional paid subscription that unlocks features such as the AI Coach chat, unlimited post-game AI reviews, Date Mode, the Climb personalised plan, and live coaching after practice drills. Pricing is shown on our pricing page and at checkout. How you are charged depends on where you subscribe:

  • On the web (blundr.co). Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see your card number. You can cancel any time from the “Manage subscription” link on your profile or pricing page and you'll keep Pro access through the end of the current period. Refunds for web purchases are at our discretion; please contact us within 14 days of a charge if something is wrong.
  • In the iOS app. Pro is sold as an auto-renewable In-App Purchase through Apple. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew for the same duration and at the then-current price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your Apple Account → Subscriptions on your device. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, is forfeited when you start a paid subscription. Refunds for iOS purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policy, not by Blundr.
  • Cross-platform unlock. Pro entitlements are tied to your Blundr account, so a subscription started on iOS unlocks Pro on the web (and vice versa) once you sign in to the same account. You are billed once per active subscription, by whichever store you originally subscribed through.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period until you cancel.

Your content

You keep ownership of the content you post — game annotations, dating answers, photos, chat messages. By posting it on Blundr, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute it for the purpose of running the Service.

Termination

You can delete your account any time from Profile → Danger Zone → Delete account on the web or in the iOS app. Deletion permanently scrubs your personal information (email, display name, profile picture, dating profile and photos, password) and revokes every active session. Game records played against other users are kept in anonymised form so opponents' histories aren't broken. If you'd rather have us handle it for you, email support@blundr.co. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, remain inactive for an extended period, or pose a security risk to the Service.

Disclaimer of warranties

Blundr is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do our best to keep the Service running smoothly, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, that the AI coach's analysis will always be correct, or that you will improve at chess as a result of using Blundr. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Blundr's total liability arising out of or related to your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we'll update the “Last updated” date and notify you in-app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms.
